Propio Language Services is seeking American Sign Language Onsite Contract Interpreters for the Detroit, MI area. The role focuses on accurate consecutive interpretation between English and ASL, with optional remote interpretation by phone or video when assignments allow.

Applicants should be at least 18, hold ASL certifications (RID/EIPA/BEI), possess basic computer skills, and be able to travel to assignments.

Qualifications

Must be 18 years or older.
Proficiency in English and American Sign Language is required.
Ability to provide accurate interpretation between English and ASL.
Must hold at least one ASL certification (RID, EIPA 3.7+, BEI).
State ASL interpreting license where applicable.
Résumé in English required during application.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Basic computer skills and tech literacy.
Must be able to travel to onsite assignments.
Background checks and immunization requirements may apply.
One or more years of professional interpreting experience.

Responsibilities

Provide accurate consecutive interpretation between English and American Sign Language onsite.
Provide remote interpretation by telephone or video when needed.
Follow interpreter protocols and client requirements.
Maintain confidentiality, privacy, and data security as required.
Interact professionally with clients and participants during assignments.
Maintain current language proficiency and subject matter knowledge.
