Job summary

Actalent in Mount Airy, MD seeks an Assistant Project Manager to support delivery of multiple construction projects on time and within budget. The role interfaces with estimating staff, clients, and subcontractors to drive bid development, client questions, and bid follow-up.

The position is based in Mount Airy, MD and requires coordinating meetings, site visits, and contract changes while ensuring safety standards are met. This is a contract role with onsite work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• College degree preferred.
• Knowledge of construction industry standards, building codes, equipment, methods, and contracts.

Responsibilities

• Assist with a wide range of construction projects from start to finish.
• Attend weekly progress meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
• Develop a thorough understanding of project details.
• Communicate effectively with clients and subcontractors.
• Visit project sites prior to bid submission as needed.
• Anticipate issues and proactively resolve them.
• Prepare subcontracts and purchase orders; review for completeness.
• Identify and track long lead time items on the project critical path.
• Prepare change orders for owners and subcontractors as needed.
• Maintain project files and vendor/subcontractor records.
• Seek opportunities to increase client satisfaction and deepen relationships.
• Ensure adherence to health and safety standards.
