Job summary

CDM Smith's CEI team is seeking a candidate to inspect and monitor construction activities at project sites. The inspector will perform complex inspections in roadway and bridge-related scopes, working under supervision as needed and reviewing drawings to prepare for field work.

A valid driver's license and relevant certifications may be required. Primary responsibilities include evaluating material usage against plans, documenting results, and communicating findings to supervisors.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in English.
• Intermediate knowledge of arithmetic.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and quickly learn new applications.
• Advanced knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction.
• Ability to read, understand, interpret and explain construction plans and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Performing both complex and routine inspections of construction to evaluate if appropriate materials and construction processes are used.
• Uses higher-grade equipment and performs complex calculations for inspections.
• Works under supervision depending on assignment complexity.
• Reviewing drawings to prepare for the inspection.
• Documenting and communicating inspection results to the supervisor.
