Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site Inspector to join our CEI team. You will inspect and monitor highway construction activities, focusing on roadway, bridges, drainage, erosion control and traffic projects.

This role requires reading plans, performing calculations, and communicating results to supervision while traveling to multiple project sites. The position emphasizes on-site field work, collaboration with engineers, and adherence to project specifications.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Relevant certifications (ACI/NICET) may be required by client or jurisdiction.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections to ensure materials and construction conform to plans and specifications.
• Use equipment and perform calculations for construction inspection under supervision.
• Review drawings to prepare for inspection; document results and communicate with supervisor.
• Read, interpret, and explain construction plans, provisions and specs.
