Job summary

Career Team is seeking a dedicated Career Advisor to provide career counseling, intensive case management, and follow-up services onsite in Covington, VA. You will support eligible WIOA participants, conduct intake, assess needs, and guide clients toward employment goals using data systems and partnerships.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s degree or higher, demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills, and are comfortable using MS Word and Excel while learning specialized

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong communication skills and knowledge of community resources.
• Proven analytical and problem solving abilities with decision-making capacity.
• MS Word and Excel proficiency; ability to learn specialized databases/software.

Responsibilities

• Provide information and case management services to community and eligible WIOA participants.
• Collaborate with Intake Specialist to complete intake and eligibility for workforce program.
• Assess jobseekers’ employment, abilities, and training needs through interviewing and testing.
• Serve as liaison between workforce programs and community partners.
• Enter data into VOS and process clients in participant information systems.
• Guide job seekers through Individual Employment Plans based on goals.
• Stay informed on labor market trends and best practices.
• Counsel clients on job opportunities, training programs, and services.
• Refer individuals to services and follow up on activities.
• Conduct orientation sessions, workshops, and group presentations.
• Maintain accurate case files and ensure eligibility documents compliance.
• Meet/exceed program benchmarks; participate in staff events and training.
• Complete all required reports within the data management system.
• Adapt to daily tasks with a proactive, confidential approach.
