Job summary

Symbotic is seeking a System Engineer to support the day-to-day reliability, availability, and performance of our automated warehouse systems in a live production environment. This hands-on role emphasizes troubleshooting, maintenance, and stabilizing electro-mechanical equipment to maximize uptime.

You will collaborate with on-site maintenance teams, analyze system data, and document actions using CMMS tools to drive safe, efficient operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent hands-on experience in electrical/automation fields.
• 1+ year hands-on experience with PLCs (preferably Allen‑Bradley) for diagnostics and troubleshooting.
• 1+ year experience with VFDs and diagnosing speed/torque issues.
• 1+ year experience with AC/DC motors.
• Experience with SQL, Python, Linux for diagnostics and system interaction.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain the health of automated systems including conveyors, lifts, robotic vehicles, motors, sensors, and PLC-controlled equipment.
• Perform advanced electrical, mechanical, and automation troubleshooting to resolve production-impacting issues.
• Diagnose failures across PLCs, VFDs, motors, sensors and control hardware.
• Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities on automated equipment.
• Use system data, alarms, logs, and dashboards to identify fault conditions and recurring issues.
• Document maintenance activities and findings using CMMS systems and internal tools.
• Act as a senior technical escalation point during system disruptions or downtime events.
• Partner with on-site teams to restore and stabilize system performance.
• Provide technical guidance to maintenance technicians and operators.
• Step in to support critical on-site technical functions to maintain operational continuity.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, LOTO, electrical safety, and Symbotics safety standards.
