Job summary

RTX in Massachusetts is seeking a Mechanical Test Solutions Engineer to join our national defense programs. You will design, analyze, prototype, and implement advanced mechanical test fixtures and environmental test stations across weapon systems lifecycle.

You will contribute to both development and production efforts, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in STEM required by start date.
• Experience using CAD software to generate 3D models and assemblies.
• Experience creating or maintaining mechanical drawings per standards (ASME Y14 or ISO).
• Experience can be gained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Responsibilities

• Research, plan, and design custom mechanical test solutions for vibration, thermal, hydraulic, RF, and electro-optical operational environments.
• Conceptualize mechanical systems that integrate seamlessly with state-of-the-art test technologies.
• Utilize parametric CAD solid modeling tools to create comprehensive 3D assemblies and detailed 2D engineering drawing packages.
• Ensure all technical data packages adhere strictly to industry drafting standards, including ASME Y14 series or ISO geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Integrate and validate test systems against stringent accuracy, repeatability, and reliability requirements.
• Evaluate production installations and collaborate with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams to diagnose malfunctions and implement design enhancements.
