Job summary

Construction Materials Testing is seeking a 3D scanning technician to operate handheld Artec Leo on diverse projects, from rebar mats to corroded pipes. You will capture data on site, process it in Artec Studio, and deliver meshes, point clouds, reports, and scan-to-CAD files the client can act on.

You must have hands-on handheld scanner experience and knowledge of CAD drawing interpretation. Travel to regional hubs is required; the role is hourly with overtime as pours and plant windows demand.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects; provide examples.
Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software; able to cleanup and register meshes.
Familiarity with CAD drawing reading; knowledge of SolidWorks, Fusion, Inventor, or Revit.
Comfortable on active construction sites and in industrial plants; able to carry equipment and work outdoors.
Valid driver's license with acceptable record; able to travel and fly with equipment.
Experience with scan-to-CAD, Geomagic Design X, or metrology reporting is a plus.
ACI, NICET, ICC certifications a plus; company sponsorship available.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar, embeds, and structures pre-pour.
Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlapping zones.
Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture; export formats include STL/OBJ/E57/CAD.
Produce deviation maps, measurement reports, crack maps, and coordinate reports.
Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks.
Document capture procedures, equipment settings, and chain of custody on forensic matters.
Coordinate access, permits, safety with superintendents and plant contacts; travel as assigned.
Travel to regional hubs; operate on-site at various facilities.
