Job summary

VStateOnline, the online learning division of Valdosta State University, seeks an Academic Advisor in Valdosta, GA. The role supports undergraduate students through virtual and on-campus advising, helping with course selection and policy interpretation.

You will maintain student records per FERPA, assist in career transitions, and collaborate with university services. Some evenings and weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and one year of related work experience.
• Experience advising students and interpreting degree requirements.
• Familiarity with FERPA regulations.
• Proficiency in MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Advise students on educational, career, personal, and social development; refer to resources and assist course selection.
• Clarify and interpret academic policies and degree requirements.
• Maintain and update student files and records; ensure FERPA compliance.
• Facilitate programs helping students explore career options and transition to college.
• Monitor student progress and provide developmental programming; support probation and reinstatement cases.
• Participate in committees and events; work with MS Office; occasional evenings/weekends.
