Job summary

Georgia State University’s University Advisement Center is seeking multiple Academic Advisor II roles to assist in advisement interpretation and policy implementation. You will guide students through degree requirements, course selection, and enrollment processes to promote retention and graduation across Atlanta-area campuses.

The team emphasizes collaboration, professional development, and a supportive environment with a strong benefits program and opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; 6 months as Academic Advisor I at GSU or 3 years related experience or a combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Advise and support students on academic planning, degree requirements, course selection, and university policies.
• Promote student retention, progression, and graduation through proactive outreach, monitoring, and referrals.
• Maintain, audit, and evaluate student records, transcripts, degree audits, and transfer credit applications.
• Monitor academic performance and determine eligibility for graduation, certifications, and academic recognition.
• Process petitions, readmissions, financial aid reinstatements, and other student academic requests.
• Coordinate student communications, orientations, workshops, and student success initiatives.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and campus partners to enhance student success and enrollment.
