Job summary

Werner Enterprises in Omaha, Nebraska invites motivated students to join its 11-week summer internship. The paid program offers real-world logistics experience at our Corporate Headquarters, with some remote or off-site opportunities.

Interns manage customer accounts, coordinate loads, track shipments, and collaborate with internal teams to improve efficiency. A group project under the Director of Implementation completes the experience.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university at a junior level pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Logistics/Transportation, Management, or Marketing.
• Previous customer service experience preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to understand account management.
• Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Time management.

Responsibilities

• Manage a customer account, serving as the primary point of contact for inquiries and issues.
• Coordinate transportation of goods, scheduling loads, pickups and deliveries, and tracking shipments to ensure timely delivery.
• Proactively communicate with customers to provide updates on load status and address concerns.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues and ensure smooth execution of transportation services.
• Identify opportunities to optimize logistics processes and improve efficiency.
• Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices to remain competitive.
• Complete a group project with other summer interns as directed by the Director of Implementation.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
