Job summary

Stockton Unified School District seeks a one-on-one assistant to support a student with severe mental and behavioral needs, aged 3 to 22. You will assist with instruction, mobility, toileting, and daily care under the teacher's supervision.

Responsibilities include supervising during meals and activities, preparing instructional materials, and tracking daily progress. The role requires patience, empathy, and good communication with staff and family.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate empathy and patience when working with students with severe mental and behavioral needs.
• Ability to establish rapport with teachers, therapists, and staff.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to follow teachers' instructions and IEP goals.
• Knowledge of safety and personal care needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist student to and from buses and classes.
• Provide mobility instruction and supervision.
• Support development of individual education plans under supervision.
• Monitor student during activities and sessions.
• Tutor student to reinforce learning experiences.
• Supervise during study, lunch, and play periods.
• Assist in social behavior development.
• Assist with toileting and personal care as needed.
• Operate AV equipment and prepare instructional materials.
• May assist in preparing instructional materials and records.
