Job summary

Stockton Unified School District is seeking a One-on-One Special Education Assistant to support instructional staff and implement individualized education plans for students with learning and communicative handicaps. This role requires patience, empathy and reliable supervision.

Responsibilities include assisting in instruction, tutoring, behavior support, and preparing instructional materials. The position may involve clerical tasks and first aid as needed, with potential bus assistance.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED required.
• 48 semester units or district/state equivalent required.
• Experience with handicapped students is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist instructional personnel with IEP implementation under supervision.
• Support students in academic instruction in various settings.
• Tutor individuals to reinforce training and learning activities.
• Monitor and assist students in reading, language, arts and other subjects.
• Supervise students during study, lunch and play periods.
• Prepare instructional materials and assist with tests.
• Operate audio-visual equipment and classroom machines.
• Assist students to and from buses and provide first aid when needed.
• Perform clerical tasks and help maintain orderly study areas.
