The One-to-One Assistant in the 853 Special Education assists the Special Education Teacher in carrying out activities, social, cognitive, behavioral and instructional objectives set forth in the child's I.E.P.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist child in daily activities.
- Under the instruction of the special education teacher, provide assistance to student to support learning social skills. transitioning between activities or locations, staying on tasks, completing daily living skills, academic tasks and reducing challenging behavior.
- Prepare and implement instructional-materials as-directed by teacher.
- Monitor/supervise students mealtime, appropriate clothing, and bathroom breaks.
- Supervise and interact with the student during meals.
- Meet and escort student to and from the bus.
- Escort and monitor student throughout the school day, during all school functions including but not limited to transitions, recess, while in special classes, related services and field trips.
- Write in notebooks and/or translate for parents.
- Complete data collection sheets as needed.
- Accompany and supervises student to vocational job sites as needed.
- Utilize appropriate therapeutic approaches daily. Perform other duties as needed.
- Provide assistance in emergency situations: student illnesses, minor emergencies and crisis intervene.

Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- At least one (1) year of experience working with special education students preferred.
Physical Requirements
Able to provide physical hands on intervention when necessary.
Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
