Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools is seeking a Special Program Paraeducator 1, GATE for a one-on-one position. The role runs 6.5 hours per day, 9 months per year, with duties centered on supporting a student and classroom needs.

Responsibilities include implementing goals, managing behavior, assisting with lessons, preparing materials, and coordinating with the teacher and staff. Includes training and adherence to district policies.

Qualifications

• Documentation verifying a high school diploma or GED
• Official transcripts or ETS ParaPro results with application
• One year of related experience with children in an educational setting preferred
• Experience with children with disabilities preferred
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in implementing goals and IEP objectives.
• Support classroom activities in small groups or individually.
• Maintain data collection records and prepare materials.
• De-escalate students in crisis and follow behavior plans.
• Assist with transportation on and off buses.
• Observe and report student progress to the teacher and team
