Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools is seeking a Special Program Paraeducator 1, Life Skills to provide one-on-one support for students with diverse needs. The role runs 6.5 hours per day for 9 months, with a non-exempt status under FLSA.

You will collaborate with certificated staff to implement life skills curricula and support individualized education plans. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED (with transcripts or ParaPro results as required), plus relevant experience and strong

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; transcripts may be requested.
• Associate's degree or 72 quarter/48 semester credits, or ParaPro Assessment with 461+ must be shown.
• One year of related experience preferred; teamwork and collaboration with educators emphasized.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher with implementing and evaluating goals and objectives on IEPs.
• Provide instructional support and help manage classroom behavior.
• Work one-on-one with students to support life skills and academic learning.
• Assist with materials preparation, data collection, and record-keeping as assigned.
• De-escalate students in emotional/behavioral crises and follow district policies.
