Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools is seeking a Paraeducator, Learning Support, to provide one-on-one support for students during a 6.5-hour school day across a 9-month year. The role emphasizes collaboration with certificated staff to implement and adapt educational goals for individual students.

The position requires strong interpersonal skills, confidentiality, and the ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or equivalent college credits or ParaPro Assessment 455+ preferred.
• One year of related experience with children in educational setting preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; ability to work with diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Treat co-workers, students, and families with dignity and respect.
• Support certificated staff in achieving learning goals for each student.
• Assist with classroom activities and individualized instruction.
• Lead small groups or provide targeted reading, writing, math, and social/behavioral supports.
• Assist with data entry, record keeping, and filing; monitor student behavior.
