Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools, Truman Elementary, seeks a paraeducator, learning support, to assist teachers and support student progress in a classroom setting. The role runs 6.5 hours per day, 9 months per year, with a day shift schedule.

Responsibilities include assisting with instructional activities, data entry, and supervision, while maintaining confidentiality and collaborative teamwork with certificated staff to support individual student goals.

Qualifications

• Documentation verifying a high school diploma or GED AND
• One of the following: official transcripts verifying an Associate's degree (90 quarter, 60 semester) OR 72 quarter or 48 semester credits from an accredited school; OR ParaPro score 455+
• One year of related experience working with children in an educational setting preferred
• Experience as part of an educational team preferred
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment

Responsibilities

• Assist certificated staff and support classroom goals.
• Lead small groups or individualized instruction in reading, writing, math, and social/behavioral skills.
• Support students in general education classrooms and collaborate with teachers.
• Perform data entry and assist with record-keeping and filing.
• Ensure confidentiality and maintain a respectful, flexible approach.
