Job summary

The YMCA of Orange County seeks a One-on-One Afterschool Aide to support children with special needs and assist adults in developing independent living and social skills.

Qualifications

• Education: 12 college units or 6 units with current enrollment in 6 additional units.
• Fields of study include child development, psychology, sociology, education, social work, or behavioral science.
• Experience: 6 months of supervised experience with children preferred.
• Requirements: Ability to travel to multiple program sites in Orange County.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one support to children (T-K through adolescence) with special needs.
• Assist adults (18+) in gaining skills for post-secondary education, employment, and community integration.
• Guide participants through positive behavior reinforcement, social skill building, and goal achievement.
• Demonstrate YMCA values and a service mindset in daily interactions.
