Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle seeks a licensed social worker to provide professional social work services to patients and caregivers, coordinating care with oncology, psychiatry, and psychology teams.

The role includes screenings, brief therapy, referrals, and advocacy, with a focus on culturally respectful care. This full-time position has a funded term through Sep 2027 and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited graduate school.
• Licensed Social Worker Associate (LSWAIC) or Licensed Social Worker Associate – Advanced (LSWAA) through Washington State DOH.
• Experience with counseling individuals and families.
• Computer skills: Outlook, Word, Excel.
• Strong assessment and crisis intervention skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients/families from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Supports the mental and physical health care of an assigned oncology patient caseload in collaboration with oncology, psychiatry, psychology, and other team members.
• Conducts distress, mental health, and substance use screenings to inform care planning.
• Provides therapeutic emotional support through brief therapy, individual and family counseling, grief and loss counseling, and crisis intervention.
• Collaborates with Psychiatry and Psychology on education, medication management support, and treatment tracking in the EMR.
• Coordinates referrals and navigation to internal services and community resources.
• Advocates for diverse patients and addresses disruptive behavior when needed.
