Job summary

MercyOne Des Moines is seeking an Acute Care RN for part-time shifts in a high-acuity medical-surgical unit. You will provide direct patient care, assessment, and care planning, coordinating with LPNs and aides to ensure safe outcomes.

This role requires strong critical thinking, effective communication, and adherence to safety and policy standards as you monitor telemetry when applicable and support postoperative and medical patients.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing required.
• BSN preferred.
• Current Iowa RN license (Illinois license if working in IL) required.
• American Heart Association BLS required.
• ACLS required only if unit has telemetry monitoring.
• Proof of Mandatory Reporter training within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Conducts an initial assessment to gather data.
• Identifies patient problems and develops outcome-based plans.
• Implements the plan of care and coordinates care with the team.
• Evaluates patient progress and revises care plans as needed.
• Communicates clinical information to the team to optimize outcomes.
• Demonstrates clinical competence in patient care.
• Manages telemetry and cardiac monitoring when applicable.
• Provides age-appropriate care for unit patients across age groups.
• Collects and analyzes age-specific data.
• Adheres to safety, infection control and health policies.
• Maintains knowledge of laws, standards and MercyOne policies.
