Job summary

MercyOne Des Moines is seeking an Acute Care Registered Nurse to provide safe, evidence-based care for medical-surgical patients, including post-operative and telemetry cases. The RN supervises care by LPNs and aides and collaborates with physicians, families, and the health team.

This full-time role requires an Iowa RN license, BLS, and strong assessment, discharge planning, and communication skills to uphold MercyOne's mission and values.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing required.
• BSN preferred.
• Current Iowa RN license required.
• American Heart Association BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required only if unit has telemetry monitoring.
• Mandatory Reporter training within three months of hire.
• Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts an initial assessment to gather data.
• Identifies patient problems and develops an outcome/goal-based plan of care.
• Implements the plan of care including procedures, treatments, orders and medications.
• Coordinates discharge planning and facilitates communication with the care team.
• Maintains ongoing communication with the interdisciplinary team and documents care accordingly.
