Job summary

Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL seeks a compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our medical observation unit, providing exceptional care for oncology patients requiring short-term hospitalization, ongoing assessment, and symptom management. Hours: 3 12-hour shifts with some weekends.

The ideal candidate will handle acute medical conditions, demonstrate critical thinking, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Science of Nursing required.
• Associate's degree in Nursing plus 1 year of relevant experience may be considered.
• Current RN license in FL or Multi-State privileges required (FL primary).
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive assessments and ongoing monitoring of patients requiring observation and short-term medical management.
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition and escalate care as needed.
• Manage oncology-related complications including pain, nausea, dehydration, fever, electrolyte imbalances, anemia, neutropenia, and side effects.
• Educate patients and caregivers on symptom management, medications, and discharge instructions.
• Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, case management, social work, nutrition, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Maintain accurate documentation adhering to quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
