Job summary

UF Health in Gainesville, FL seeks a Registered Professional Nurse to assess patient health, identify changes, implement evidence-based interventions, and evaluate the effectiveness of care to achieve optimal outcomes.

The RN will supervise licensed practical nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel, coordinate care across disciplines, delegate appropriately, and advocate for patients within a culture of trust and collaboration.

Qualifications

• BSN and professional nursing board certification preferred at time of hire.
• All nurses hired after April 30, 2014 without a BSN will be required to obtain a BSN within three years of hire.
• All nurses hired after June 30, 2011 without a professional nursing board certification will be required to obtain a professional nursing board certification after two years of hire or at the certification eligibility date for those certifications requiring more than two years of experience.

The Registered Professional Nurse provides comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care by assessing patient needs, identifying actual and potential health concerns, implementing appropriate nursing interventions, and evaluating patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patients and identifies actual and potential health concerns.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates individualized nursing interventions and plans of care.
• Involves patients, families, and significant others in assessment, planning, care, and evaluation whenever possible.
• Supervises and directs care provided by Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Unlicensed Assistive Personnel.
• Assigns and delegates patient care to qualified members of the healthcare team.
• Coordinates patient care with other healthcare professionals and disciplines.
• Participates in unit-based activities that promote a positive and professional work environment.
• Provides compassionate, accountable nursing care focused on patient advocacy, collaboration, and optimal patient outcomes.

Education & Experience

• BSN preferred at time of hire

Licensure & Certification
