Job summary

UCI Health in Irvine, CA seeks an experienced registered nurse to provide direct and indirect patient care in our oncology clinic. You will perform nursing care using the nursing process, educate patients and families about cancer treatment, chemotherapy, and follow-up plans, and coordinate with the physician team.

The role requires strong English communication, BLS, and a California RN license. Minimum 6 months oncology experience or 1 year clinical with cancer basics training; BSN is required.

Qualifications

• Must have ability to perform nursing duties according to the nursing process.
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
• Minimum 6 months experience working as an RN in an Inpatient or Outpatient Oncology setting OR 1 Year clinical experience and recent completion of cancer basics class from Oncology Nursing Society within previous year.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Demonstrated practice with and knowledge of chemotherapy agents
• Current CA RN license
• Basic Life Support certification required
• All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care in the clinic.
• Educate patients and families about cancer care, diagnostic procedures, medication/chemotherapy and other aspects of the plan of care.
• Ensure the continuum of care from pre-procedure through discharge and follow-up in physician offices.
• Support the faculty in clinic for every patient care session.
