Job summary

UCI Health is seeking an experienced registered nurse in oncology to deliver direct and indirect patient care in the clinic setting, applying the nursing process. You will be the primary contact for oncology patients and provide education on cancer care, diagnostic procedures, medications, and chemotherapy within the care plan.

Qualifications

• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
• Minimum 6 months experience as an RN in oncology inpatient or outpatient, or 1 year clinical oncology experience with cancer basics course within the last year.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Demonstrated practice with and knowledge of chemotherapy agents.
• Current CA RN license.
• Basic Life Support certification required.
• All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process in the clinic.
• Act as primary contact for oncology patients and educate patients/families on cancer care and procedures.
• Incorporate psycho-motor and cognitive skills in assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation.
• Ensure complete continuum of care including pre-procedure, chemotherapy, hospitalization and follow-up.
• Support clinic faculty and assist with activities to grow the practice.
