Job summary

UCI Health in Irvine is seeking an experienced registered nurse to provide direct and indirect patient care in the oncology clinic. You will be the primary contact for oncology patients and educate them and their families about cancer care, diagnostic procedures, chemotherapy and the overall plan of care.

Using the nursing process, you will support pre-procedure activities, chemotherapy protocols, hospitalization planning, anticipated discharge needs and follow-up in physician offices.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months experience as an RN in an Inpatient or Outpatient Oncology setting OR 1 Year clinical experience and recent completion of cancer basics class from Oncology Nursing Society within previous year
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Current CA RN license
• All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Basic Life Support certification required

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care for oncology patients.
• Serve as the primary contact for oncology patients and educate patients/families on cancer care, diagnostic procedures, medications/chemotherapy, and plan of care.
• Apply the nursing process to ensure the continuum of care from pre-procedure through discharge and follow-up in physician offices.
• Support the clinic faculty in patient care sessions and assist with other activities as assigned.
