Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
• Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations.
• Active Medical Assistant Certification is required. BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for exam by taking and recording vital signs and chief complaint.
• Assists with exams and minor procedures including phlebotomy and EKGs; maintains infection control.
• Coordinates patient care including referrals, scheduling, and communicating test results to patients.
• Provides clerical support and ensures complete medical records and billing information is accurate.
• Maintains clean, organized exam rooms and follows safety guidelines for hazardous substances.
• Orders supplies, stocks areas, and manages medication-related tasks and recalls.
• Develops effective communication with patients and staff to support patient care and workload balance.
• Completes onboarding/orientation and simulation training as directed.
• Works under supervision of providers and prioritizes data from multiple sources to support patient care.
