Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a Patient Service Representative to greet patients, check them in and out, verify demographics and insurance, and collect payments in a fast-paced clinical setting.

The role collaborates with nurses and physicians to ensure appointments align with treatment plans, maintains accurate records, and supports billing processes while delivering exceptional patient service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 0–2 years experience in a customer service position.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Healthcare experience preferred; knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
• Bilingual abilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and guests, checks in and out, confirms identity and visit details.
• Verifies and updates patient demographics and insurance information.
• Completes patient registration and obtains required authorizations.
• Collects co-payments and other payments; posts payments and closes cash drawer.
• Schedules and coordinates appointments in alignment with treatment plans and clinic availability.
• Maintains waiting area cleanliness and communicates delays or changes to patients.
