Job summary

Low Country Cancer Care is seeking a Financial Counselor to act as the primary patient advocate for financial navigation within the oncology practice.

You will review insurance coverage, establish patient financial responsibility estimates, and coordinate prior authorizations and benefit verification to ensure seamless access to cancer treatment, while offering compassionate support throughout the care journey.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's Degree or higher preferred in healthcare administration or related field.
• Minimum two years experience in healthcare financial counseling, patient access, or medical billing.
• Experience verifying pre-certification and/or prior authorization with medical insurance.

Responsibilities

• Verify insurance coverage and coordinate pre-certifications and prior authorizations with insurers and providers.
• Explain insurance benefits and patient financial responsibility.
• Assist patients with completing paperwork for assistance and grant-funded programs.
