Job summary

American Oncology Network seeks a dedicated Patient Financial Counselor to join an oncology practice in Springfield, MO. You will review insurance benefits, estimate patient financial responsibility, coordinate prior authorizations, and help patients access financial assistance while supporting clinical teams.

You will work with insurers and assistance programs to remove financial barriers, maintain up-to-date EMR billing data, and communicate compassionately about costs throughout treatment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field preferred.
• Minimum two years in healthcare financial counseling or related area.
• Experience with pre-certification, prior authorization, and patient assistance programs.
• Proven ability to calculate patient responsibility and manage insurance co-pays.

Responsibilities

• Verify insurance coverage, authorizations, and benefit eligibility.
• Estimate patient financial responsibility and discuss options with patients.
• Coordinate prior authorizations and assist with documentation for assistance programs.
• Maintain up-to-date EMR billing data and communicate with clinical teams.
• Provide compassionate financial counseling and advocate for patients.
