Qualifications

• Requires an Associate’s Degree in social work, healthcare administration or finance.
• Minimum of three years of diversified experience in a hospital Patient Registration/Financial Services setting.
• Must have highly developed interpersonal, communications and human relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Pre-registration/registration processing and obtaining initial authorizations based on the care plan.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain authorizations; document information for reimbursement.
• Provide financial counseling to patients and families; discuss benefits and options.
• Assist uninsured patients in accessing funding sources and required documents.
• Act as liaison between patient, PFS, and payers to maximize account performance and resolve issues.
• Calculate patient liability, collect deposits and co-payments.
• May provide leadership and training to other financial team members.
• Work independently in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing patient care and revenue cycle needs.
