Job summary

Merck is seeking an Oncology Sales Specialist to drive growth in the Oklahoma City, OK region. You will engage with customers to address needs, educate stakeholders on oncology products, and work toward tight sales goals within your territory.

The role requires field experience in oncology sales, a strong understanding of cancer treatment pathways, and the ability to build durable customer relationships. Overnight travel may be required as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with at least 8 years of sales experience or a minimum of a high school diploma with at least 10 years of equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of oncology field-based experience selling an oncology therapeutic to oncology customers.
• Equivalent experience can be professional sales experience, work experience in the healthcare/scientific field with oncology experience being strongly preferred (including pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical devices) that is not sales related, professional marketing experience, or military experience.

Responsibilities

• Attain or exceed the assigned sales goals for the geography.
• Meet with key stakeholders to understand practice structure, business model, and key influencers, while building business relationships and trust to uncover and comprehend their needs.
• Communicate a compelling, patient-centered rationale for oncology products in indicated uses.
• Understand cancer treatments and care pathways to explain product options to customers.
• Identify trends in a complex buying environment across multiple distribution channels.
• Review patterns for products purchased and prescribed (outpatient vs in-patient infusion, hospital or GPO contracts).
• Develop and execute short- and long-term accounts plans in collaboration with the Oncology Customer Team Leader.
• Ask insightful questions to understand customer priorities and needs for relevant conversations about the portfolio.
• Ensure a consistent customer experience across divisions and collaborate with the Customer Team Leader, Key Account Manager, Nurse Educator, Field Reimbursement Associate, Medicare Account Executive, and more.
