Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. in the United States is seeking an Oncology Sales Specialist to engage with customers, educate stakeholders about oncology products, and drive sales within the Oklahoma City, OK North Texas territory.

The role requires experience in oncology sales, travel flexibility including overnight travel, and the ability to build strong customer relationships. A strong background in medical sales and knowledge of cancer care is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of sales experience or a minimum of a high school diploma with at least 10 years of equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of oncology field-based experience selling an oncology therapeutic to oncology customers.
• Equivalent experience can be professional sales experience, work experience in the healthcare/scientific field with oncology experience being strongly preferred (including pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical devices) that is not sales related, professional marketing experience, or military experience.

Responsibilities

• Attain or exceed the assigned sales goals for the geography.
• Meet with key stakeholders to understand practice structure and business model, building relationships to uncover needs.
• Communicate a compelling, patient-centered rationale for oncology products in indicated uses.
• Understand multidisciplinary teams, cancer staging, treatment options, and guidelines.
• Analyze trends in a complex buying environment across multiple channels of distribution.
• Review patterns for products purchased and prescribed in different settings.
• Develop and execute short- and long-term plans with local teams and leadership.
• Ask insightful questions to understand customer priorities and needs for product conversations.
• Ensure consistent customer experience across divisions and collaborate with the Customer Team Leader and Key Account Manager.
