Responsibilities

• Provides patient personal care/hygiene and comfort, including feeding, bathing, shaving, changing clothes, bed making, ambulation, lifting, turning, moving, transferring, skin care and bowel/bladder elimination. Prepares patient, equipment and supplies for procedures.
• Performs, monitors, reports and documents all clinical activities within scope of practice; observes and reports changes in patient condition to the RN; obtains labels and transports specimens; provides patient data to nursing staff for the interdisciplinary plan of care.
• Assists nursing staff in admission, discharge and transfer of patient; inventories belongings; orients patient/family; transports patient using wheelchairs, stretchers or beds.
• Checks, cleans and disinfects mobile non-critical medical equipment; ensures appropriate contact time for disinfectant.
• Maintains a neat and organized work environment; orders, stocks and replenishes supplies; logs repairs and tags equipment.
• Verifies, orders and stocks supplies; maintains unit order; cleans charts and clipboards; initiates repairs and maintenance; labels and reports hazards.
• Maintains safety standards; uses hand hygiene; follows safety protocols and risk management guidelines; supports patient safety goals.
