Job summary

UNC Health Rex Healthcare in Raleigh, NC, is seeking a Nursing Assistant I to provide routine direct and indirect patient care under supervision. The role supports oncology/unit operations on Rex 5 East, with a 36-hour work week and a night schedule.

Qualifications include NC Nursing Assistant I certification, BLS, and preferred 6 months of experience. English fluency and basic computer skills are required. A $5,000 Commitment Incentive is offered over two years.

Qualifications

• Nursing Assistant I certification/registration is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Prefer six months of nursing assistant experience.
• Fluent in English and able to use basic computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and healthcare providers with routine exams and procedures and obtain needed equipment in emergencies.
• Provide care coordination and support for patients and families on the unit.
• Observe and document patient information, reporting significant changes to supervising RN/physician.
• Orient new patients to hospital/clinic/home health experiences and assist with discharge planning.
• Provide care and treatments per plan of care, including vital signs, wound care, catheter care, glucose checks, ROM, and basic activities.
• Assist with activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, feeding, and ambulation.
• Perform indirect care tasks: cleaning, restocking, transporting supplies, and clerical duties.
• Reinforce patient teaching and distribute educational materials as directed.
