Job summary

UNC Health Rex 5 East Oncology is seeking a Clinical Nurse to provide competent nursing care on a 31-bed unit serving oncology patients. The role reports to the Nurse Manager/Director and applies the nursing process to coordinate patient care in a hospital setting.

Requires NC RN license and BLS; a Bachelor's in Nursing is expected within seven years. Prior oncology experience is preferred; 36-hour weeks with onsite work and a 1-year minimum of nursing practice are expected.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• Licensed to practice as an RN in North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
• One year of nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Education: participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self and attends education programs.
• Evaluation of care: participates in interdisciplinary discussion to evaluate patient care and outcomes.
• Implementation: provides care for patients with complex problems, ensuring safety and education.
• Leadership: develops goals with supervision and supports unit goals and performance improvement.
• Patient assessment: identifies priorities and plans for discharge and follow-up needs.
• Planning: collaborates with patient/family to update the plan of care using multidisciplinary resources.
• Research: reads journals and shares ideas with staff for applicability to practice.
