Job summary

BillionToOne in Menlo Park, CA is hiring an Automation Service Engineer I/II, Oncology to support lab operations, troubleshoot and maintain sequencing equipment in a regulated environment.

The role requires strong root-cause analysis, excellent documentation (GDP) and clear communication; onsite work with cross-functional teams and vendors.

BS degree, 3+ years in lab equipment operation, preferably high-throughput molecular biology tools; this is a hands-on, impact-focused position.

Qualifications

• BS degree in a scientific discipline.
• 3+ years operating and troubleshooting lab equipment, preferably high-throughput molecular biology equipment such as liquid handlers.
• Strong customer‑focused service experience.
• Ability to engage in constructive dialogue and maintain transparency.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Experience in CLIA or similar regulated environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide service, support, and troubleshooting for automated processes and instrumentation.
• Perform and coordinate maintenance work on laboratory equipment.
• Troubleshoot, conduct root cause analysis, and problem solving on lab instruments.
• Carry out Installation, Operational, and Process Qualifications on new equipment as necessary.
• Collaborate with Quality Control to ensure documentation is completed accurately per regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with vendors as required for equipment issues.
• Maintain equipment parts inventory and organized records.
• Prepare documentation for equipment operation and maintenance.
• Propose and design plans for process improvements.
• Represent equipment and automation teams in cross-functional meetings.
• Undertake special projects as assigned.
