Job summary

BillionToOne in Menlo Park, CA is seeking an Automation Service Engineer I/II, Oncology to support and maintain laboratory equipment used in Next Generation Sequencing workflows. This on-site role requires strong root cause analysis, rigorous documentation, and clear communication in a regulated environment.

You will perform maintenance, troubleshooting, quality control coordination, and collaborate with vendors and cross-functional teams to ensure qualified operation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in a scientific discipline is required.
• 3+ years operating and troubleshooting laboratory equipment, preferably high-throughput molecular biology equipment.
• Strong customer-focused service experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide service, support, and troubleshooting for automated processes and instrumentation.
• Perform and coordinate maintenance work on laboratory equipment.
• Troubleshoot, conduct root cause analysis, and problem solving on lab instruments.
• Carry out Installation, Operational, and Process Qualifications on new equipment as necessary.
• Collaborate with Quality Control to ensure all documentation is completed accurately and in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Effectively coordinate with vendors as required for equipment issues.
• Maintain equipment parts inventory and well-organized equipment records.
• Prepare documentation as needed for equipment operation and maintenance.
• Propose and design plans for process improvements.
• Represent the equipment and automation teams in cross-functional meetings.
• Undertake special projects as assigned.
