Job summary

Alpha School is seeking a Youth Development Coach to work on-site with K-3 students, guiding app-based literacy learning and closing reading gaps. You will lead short, structured sessions, diagnose gaps, and tailor sequences to individual learners.

This full-time role requires 3+ years with children, 2+ years in reading instruction, and structured-literacy training or a master's. Relocation support is provided for campus placement across the US.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years working directly with children ages 4-9 in relevant settings.
• At least 2 years teaching reading in grades K-3 within the last 5 years.
• Structured-literacy training or a master's in reading or literacy.
• Bachelor’s degree; teaching certificate not required.
• Legally authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Get every K-3 student to daily learning goals and close reading gaps.
• Coaching two to four students in app-based core learning sessions.
• Lead morning launch, workshops, and check-chart activities with students.
• Drive weekly app goals using school currency, leaderboards, and gamification.
• Stay with students through lunch, recess, and closing with a plan for frustrated learners.
