Job summary

Alpha School is seeking a Youth Development Coach to guide K–3 students through app-based core learning, diagnose reading gaps, and lead targeted literacy sessions on campus. You will collaborate with families, track progress with weekly data, and support students through daily routines from launch to closing.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years with children aged 4–9, 2+ years teaching reading in K–3, and formal structured-literacy training (or a master’s in reading).

Qualifications

• At least 3 years working directly with children ages 4-9.
• 2 years teaching reading in grades K-3 within the last 5 years.
• Completed structured‑literacy training or a master’s in reading or literacy.

Responsibilities

• Get every K-3 student to daily learning goals and close reading gaps.
• Lead short structured-literacy sessions with two to four students.
• Coach through app-based core learning, diagnose gaps, and monitor progress.
• Maintain daily routines and school currency to drive weekly app goals.
• Stay with students through lunch, recess, and closing, addressing frustration with a plan.
