Job summary

Alpha School is seeking a Youth Development Coach for a full-time, on-site role at a campus in the United States. You will guide K-3 students through app-based core learning, diagnose decoding gaps, and design targeted sequences to close them.

You’ll stay with students through lunch, recess, and closing, ensuring progress toward weekly goals. Requirements include at least 3 years with children aged 4-9, 2 years teaching reading in K-3, and structured-literacy training (or a master’s in reading).

Qualifications

• 3+ years working directly with children ages 4-9 in teaching, coaching, tutoring, camps, youth programs, or similar.
• At least 2 years of that experience teaching reading in grades K-3 within the last 5 years.
• Structured-literacy training (LETRS, IMSE, Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, Fundations, UFLI, CERI, Neuhaus, SIPPS, Really Great Reading) or a master’s in reading/literacy.
• Bachelor’s degree required; teaching certificate not necessarily needed.

Responsibilities

• Coach students through app-based core learning and identify gaps to unblock progress.
• Lead short, structured literacy sessions with small groups and monitor transfer of skills.
• Maintain engagement through morning launches, life-skills workshops, and daily routines from opening to closing.
