Job summary

Stantec is seeking a full-time Construction Field Inspector with our Water Business Line. This on-site role focuses on monitoring construction activities, ensuring compliance with design documents, and coordinating with engineers, clients, and contractors to resolve issues.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, 5 years of field experience, a valid driver’s license, and knowledge of safety and quality management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required, secondary education in related field is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years’ related experience is preferred.
• A valid driver’s license and good driving record are required.
• A pre-employment drug screen is required, along with client-specific pre-access and random drug screens.
• A pre-employment background check is required, along with client-specific pre-access background checks.
• Proficient with desktop office software applications (word processor, spreadsheets, email, PDF viewers, etc.).
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel extensively within the region with overnight stays and work weekends as required.
• Working knowledge of HSSE policies and procedures as required by the client.
• Ability to read construction plans, technical specifications, and quality management plans.

Responsibilities

• Serve as on-site safety representative and maintain a safe working environment.
• Liaise between engineer and contractor to resolve field issues.
• Interact with client and contractor representatives and the Stantec team.
• Oversee and perform testing and maintain documentation (RFIs, submittals, non-conformances).
• Operate testing and monitoring equipment and record results.
• Track construction progress, issues, and resolutions; report discrepancies.
• Review daily construction issues with design team and client to determine resolutions.
• Monitor adherence to contract and design documents; ensure quality oversight of materials.
