HAI Group is seeking an Underwriting Intern to join the team in Cheshire, CT, for a full-time, paid summer program. You will work alongside underwriting professionals, analyzing exposure data and learning how risk, coverage, and pricing are evaluated in a property-casualty insurer.

This internship offers structured learning, mentorship, and opportunities to network with leaders while contributing to real underwriting projects and presentations.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in business, insurance, risk management, finance, data analytics, STEM, or related fields.
• On-site in Cheshire, CT, Monday–Friday.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Analyze exposure data, rating information, loss trends, and coverage amounts to identify patterns and implications.
• Assist with underwriting research involving catastrophe exposure, coverage evaluation, market conditions, and profitability.
• Review and organize information to evaluate housing risks for coverage eligibility.
• Build clear, accurate reports and presentations for underwriters and leadership.
• Collaborate with Underwriting and partners like Claims, Marketing, and Risk Control to support member services.
• Complete a capstone-style project providing a resource for future underwriting analysis.
• Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
