Job summary

HAI Group in Cheshire, CT seeks a data analytics intern to gain hands-on experience with enterprise data, BI, reporting, and analytics initiatives that support underwriting, claims, finance, risk management, and other functions.

You will work with data analysts, engineers, architects, and stakeholders in an Agile environment to deliver trusted data, actionable insights, and reporting solutions. This is a full-time, paid internship on-site, running from May 31st to mid-August.

Qualifications

• Candidate is currently enrolled in a degree program (undergrad or grad).
• Familiarity with data tools and analytics concepts is helpful.
• Experience with basic data visualization or reporting is a plus.

Internship Program Mission:

To attract and engage undergraduate and graduate talent, including students pursuing advanced degrees for specialized roles, by providing meaningful internship opportunities at HAI Group that align with their fields of study and enable them to apply academic knowledge, theory, and skills in a practical workplace environment.

Internship Overview

As an intern, you will gain hands‑on experience working with enterprise data, business intelligence, reporting solutions, and analytics initiatives that directly support business decision‑making across the organization. You will work alongside data analysts, engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to help deliver trusted data, actionable insights, and reporting solutions that support underwriting, claims, finance, risk management, and other key business functions.

This is a full‑time, paid internship that is required to be on‑site in the HAI Group office, located in Cheshire, CT, Monday–Friday. The internship program will run from May 31st– Mid August.

Essential Functions

• Assist with extracting, validating, cleansing, and preparing data for analysis and reporting.
• Develop reports, visualizations, and dashboards that communicate business insights to stakeholders.
• Support the design, testing, and maintenance of data models and reporting solutions.
• Investigate and troubleshoot data discrepancies, reporting issues, and data quality concerns.
• Perform analyses that help business teams make informed, data‑driven decisions.
• Document business requirements, data definitions, and reporting logic.
• Collaborate with technical and business teams in an Agile development environment.

Job Requirements

Required:

• Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in Business, Finance, Data Science, Risk Management, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or other related degrees.
• Work on‑site in the HAI Group office, located in Cheshire, CT, Monday–Friday
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Preferred:

• Prior work/internship experience
• Experience with SQL, Stata, or other statistical platforms
• Basic understanding in data modeling and Tabular Model
• Familiar with agile project management tools, Jira preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Strong interest in data analytics, risk management, data engineering, data visualization or related fields.
• Basic knowledge of Excel, including formulas, functions (like VLOOKUP, IF statements), and pivot tables.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools and techniques
• Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work well in a team environment.
