Job summary

AnaVation in Washington, DC is seeking a Mid-level Database Administrator to manage and optimize our customers' SQL Server environment. The role emphasizes performance tuning, backup/recovery, security, and collaboration with development teams.

Top Secret clearance is required. On-site five days a week in Washington, DC. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable, scalable, and secure database platforms.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 4+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA.
• Experience with database administration."
• Experience implementing data policies, procedures, standards.
• Experience planning and development of an organization’s enterprise data model.
• Experience resolving data conflicts.
• Experience managing data repositories.
• Familiarity with backup tools, monitoring systems, and disaster recovery planning.
• A current Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility and the ability to obtain a polygraph.
• Can be on-site 5 days a week.

Responsibilities

• Designs, implements, and maintains moderately complex databases.
• Maintains database dictionaries and integration of systems through database design.
• Administer and test computer databases, applying knowledge of database management systems.
• Monitor performance, analyze wait stats, tune queries, and manage indexes and statistics.
• Design, implement, and manage backup, recovery, and high availability/DR (e.g., AGs, log shipping).
• Perform system administration tasks including patching, scripting, and server configuration.
• Automate routine operations using PowerShell or similar scripting tools.
• Collaborate with teams to support application releases and schema changes.
• Enforce database and system security with proper access controls, encryption, and auditing.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across production and non-production environments.
• Create and maintain clear documentation for procedures, configurations, and best practices.
