Job summary

Nikon SLM Solutions in Dayton, OH, seeks a Resident Service Engineer to install and service complete metal‑laser systems at customer sites, handling mechanical setup, electrical hook‑ups, precision alignment, and network interfacing.

The candidate will provide hands‑on technical support, mentor customer personnel, read electrical schematics, work with CAD tools, and travel internationally if requested to ensure successful installations and ongoing excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic, Automation Technology or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience with industrial equipment.
• Proficient in reading electrical schematics and CAD software.
• Experience with 3D printing technology, preferably Metal Laser Powder Bed Fusion.
• Willingness to travel internationally if requested.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for Nikon SLM Solutions installed machines for electrical, mechanical, cooling, and gas systems to optimize performance.
• Collaborate with customer personnel to ensure successful installation and start-up.
• Engage, train, and mentor customer personnel on level 1 system use for Nikon SLM Solutions equipment and peripherals.
• Attend meetings with customers to discuss installation or repair status and timing.
• Communicate installation or repair status frequently to the customer and the Service Manager.
• Work closely with the Service Manager to ensure customers are served with excellence.
