Job summary

Austin Bridge & Road in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Safety Representative to support the Safety Director by implementing safety reviews and ensuring a safe, accident-free work environment across office and field teams.

The role leads hazard analysis, develops training programs, conducts incident investigations, documents records, and collaborates with site personnel to promote continuous safety improvements and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety and Health or a related field preferred.
• CHST, ASP, or CSP certification preferred.
• CMAR and preconstruction experience preferred.
• Bilingual in Spanish highly desirable.
• Good organizer, meticulous, and good public speaker at ease moderating large groups.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of heavy civil construction practices, techniques, and safety standards.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills to effectively prioritize tasks and achieve desired results.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment and meet deadlines consistently.

Responsibilities

• Gather information to identify hazards and exposure on projects.
• Devise methods to eliminate or control hazard exposures.
• Develop and conduct safety training for employees.
• Create and present safety-training programs including new hire orientation.
• Ensure training records are documented and filed.
• Attend training sessions to improve professional skills.
• Provide solutions for identified hazards and disseminate safety information.
• Conduct incident investigations when required.
• Generate and distribute safety reports in a timely manner.
• Attend weekly project site safety meetings.
• Perform daily safety walks and assist in pre-job activities.
• Provide first aid at required levels and report unsafe conditions.
• Maintain company safety and health programs and safety communications.
