Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Production Line Manager for a high-volume line in Welkom, Free State. You will lead a hands-on, on-site team, drive continuous improvement, and ensure safety, quality, and on-time production targets across the line.

The role requires 7+ years in production management, strong leadership, and expertise in planning software. You will collaborate with QA, maintenance and supply chain to optimize operations and deliver results in a demanding mining equipment environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in production management or similar supervisory role, preferably mining equipment.
• Experience leading a team of production operators.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control systems, and safety regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency with production planning and scheduling software.
• Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Hands-on, on-site management experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of a production line, ensuring workflow and targets.
• Train, motivate and manage production staff to uphold accountability and excellence.
• Ensure compliance with policies, safety regulations, and quality standards.
• Monitor performance, analyze data, and implement efficiency and cost-reduction strategies.
• Allocate resources to meet schedules and targets; manage labor, materials, and equipment.
• Collaborate with QA, maintenance and supply chain to optimize processes.
• Lead lean initiatives and continuous improvement on the line.
• Maintain production records and prepare performance reports.
• Ensure maintenance of machinery and equipment.
• Foster a safe working environment and enforce safety protocols.
