Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Plant Operations Manager to oversee a large mining and resources facility in Welkom, Free State. The role focuses on safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation, with leadership of supervisors and plant personnel to drive performance and safety.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in plant operations within heavy industry, engineering background, strong safety culture, and proven budgeting and leadership skills.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mining, Mechanical, Chemical) or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in plant operations management.
• Leadership experience with large teams and complex processes.
• Strong knowledge of safety protocols and environmental regulations.
• Experience with budgeting and cost control.
• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with Welkom and Free State mining industry is advantageous.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in heavy industrial environments, a strong understanding of mining processes, and exceptional skills in team leadership and operational optimization. Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mining, Mechanical, Chemical) or a related technical field.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in plant operations management, preferably within the mining or heavy industrial sector.
• Proven experience in managing large operational teams and complex production processes.
• Strong knowledge of safety protocols and environmental regulations applicable to mining operations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and control operational costs effectively.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
• Familiarity with the operational context in Welkom and the Free State mining industry is highly advantageous.
• Ability to work shifts and be on-call as required.
